I loved this show! Brian is so engaging and takes you through a very important and emotional journey from his life in a way that leaves you wanting more. I felt immediately connected to the “characters” of the story and rode their highs and lows from the edge of my seat. The show is full of heart and humor, it’s entertaining and uplifting, and I am ready for the sequel! I heartily recommend you see this show!

Such a well-written show! Brian did such a great job at bravely sharing his very personal family’s journey with us.The presentation of the events was very well structured and his performance was excellent. He deftly shifts between highly comedic moments to more sombre and poignant ones and always delivers the material through a thoughtful and honest lens. I cannot rave enough about this show!

We were riveted during Brian’s performance, he’s a great storyteller. Perfect pacing, nice intermix of some photos and emails. Loved the show! Wonderful little theater once we stepped over the homeless outside and found our seats. I would not feel comfortable coming to the Tenderloin after dark, just saying. But the performance was outstanding and we will come again to future shows.

We really enjoyed the show tonight but mostly, we felt like participants in your family’s story.
I kept saying to myself, “Man, this is some brave shit.” Shit I’d never let out, but you are, and doing so in a funny, engaging way. And just as I used to tell my students, “Don’t forget, every good story has an arc; beginning, middle and end.” I was telling my wife on the way home, “Dude certainly followed that advice.”

We loved your show and really admire your courage and willingness to be so vulnerable. As non-parents– we get that you have no idea what’s ahead when you decide to have kids. Anything can happen outside of the dream of parenthood and then you have to roll with it. And you were able to put all that love, care and struggle on stage and make it funny! Your analysis of therapist as a profession is just one of the pointed moments. As was all the heartbreaking stuff about your own childhood invisibility. I marvel at how you put all those pieces together into a coherent story of struggle, despair, hope and triumph.

Brian knocked it out of the park with his performance. He starts out by discussing parenting, including the trials and tribulations of being a parent, and his amazing daughter. He talks about his upbringing, how he was parented, and how that molded him in his parenting. As he said in his performance, it’s for anyone who is a parent or has a parent. I was captivated by his 55-minute show and his view on parents and being a parent. I laughed and I cried. I highly recommend seeing this one-man show.

“Therapist Zero” takes us on multiple, compelling journeys. The path of the loving parent, the path of the unseen child and the path of someone navigating a sometimes, treacherous mental health care system. It’s all conveyed in Brian’s touching, down to earth, relatable and very funny way. As dark as it sometimes gets though, it always feels hopeful and fascinating. The mark of a great storyteller is when you want them to tell another chapter and I definitely felt this way at the end.

I thoroughly enjoyed Brian’s show. He has a great presence and a captivating storytelling style It was touching, funny, revealing, and very well written. The way he interwove the story of his daughter and his own childhood was a highlight. You don’t have to be a parent to appreciate this compelling show (but it helps).

We thought Brian’s show was thoughtful and perhaps above all, brave. Some of the journey was hard to listen to, but like the seasoned performer Brian is, he brought it home with a happy ending. Though like everything else in life, I’d suspect it was just a beginning.

It’s been wonderful watching Brian workshop this, and now bring it to the stage. Great story-telling from a man who has been thru the wringer with his family, and came out so much better for it. He does it with great wit, reflecting on his own upbringing and demonstrating his wonderful love for his daughter, as the family struggles to navigate modern mental healthcare. A real treat of a performance.

Therapist Zero is a hilarious, beautifully told, poignant look at trying to avoid the mistakes of your own parents while parenting an extraordinary child of your own. The audience member sitting next to me said, “I wish he had more children. I want more chapters. I could listen to these stories all day!” I couldn’t agree more. Brian Leonard gives a flawless performance.
Do not miss it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Brian is an amazing storyteller. Funny, vulnerable, and captivating. He made me laugh. He made cry. Any maybe even more importantly, his performance kept me reflecting on own child raising choices and experiences for hours afterward. Therapist Zero is a don’t miss experience!

THERAPIST ZERO starts off with a bang and keeps soaring upwards on the precise words spoken by humorist Brian Leonard. He breaks new ground with “dramedy therapy” perhaps a new course to be studied for A.C.T. or Yale Repertory. Brian challenges the status quo of helicopter vs. free range parenting by asking us to measure the philosophical constructs of the mental health industry. The juxtaposition of this show emerging within the Taylor Street Theater with the mentally challenged surviving on the fringe outside in the Tenderloin district was not lost on theater patrons. It begs the question; What if Brian & Eli were these unfortunate souls’ parents? Kudos to San Francisco Fringe Festival for recognizing this piece of resistance which should be submitted for a Peabody or Pulitzer for promoting a comical understanding on the acceptance of the absurd culture within mental health.

Therapist Zero is an evocative and emotional journey told through the lens of a caring, loving, and deeply concerned father. It offers a vulnerable and heartfelt account of one family’s experience navigating the complex and often overwhelming world of mental health. With raw honesty, it captures the resilience of the human spirit, showing how love, hope, and determination can endure even in the face of immense challenges. This story is as much about healing and understanding as it is about the enduring bonds that hold families together.

This show is brilliant! The journey that Brian vividly chronicles for the audience is thought-provoking, evocative and moving. To present such a highly personal account of one’s own experiences in a manner that both heart warming as well as hilariously entertaining… that is nothing short of genius!
