In this continuing Tuesday-night series of absurdist plays, the EXIT Theatre produces Harold Pinter's comedies about hired killers and a lonely cabby, respectively. Short, minimal, and to the point, these one-acts have all of the punch of full-blown Pinter plays, but with half the calories. The two lead actors in both plays -- Lawrence Motta (Driver, Ben) and John Schumacher (Controller, Gus) -- display the comic timing necessary to fill the Pinter pauses and silences. Director John Warren creatively devises the shows, dropping the famous dumbwaiter out of the downstage flys and making the most of the bare stage. An interesting, early-evening alternative to a quiet Tuesday night, these plays start slowly, and end with a bang.
