- Though theater festivals have been proliferating in our fair city like
mushrooms on cowpats, only one can flaunt double-X-chromosome cred like
the Exit Theatre's DIVAfest. With a commitment to shows authored, directed,
and performed by women, DIVAfest celebrates its sixth year with a new workshop
format. In addition, the lineup includes a full-length world premiere production,
Crystal Daze, by Deborah Eubanks, readings by Diane di Prima, and the Sassy
and Seductive cabaret show at Original Joe's, starting May 4 and hosted
by the biggest diva of them all, the incomparable Sean Owens. (Nicole Gluckstern)
