80 Seats
Stage 18' wide, 10' deep
Is Located on the north side of Eddy between Taylor & Mason. A block
from the Powell St. BART and MUNI Station, this 80 seat proscenium/ cabaret
style house is the main space of the Eddy St. Theatreplex which houses EXIT
Stage Left, EXIT Studio, EXIT Café and the Volunteer Center. This
house is street level and is wheel-chair accessible.
With traditional use of the curtains, playing space is approximately 18' wide by 10' deep with 2 entrances on each side with ample wing space. The curtains can be pushed off stage, making the playing space larger and the wing space smaller. The back curtain can be closed to provide a black back drop or opened to show our brick wall. The stage is raised 14" from the first row of the audience seating.
Entrances directly to stage from the dressing room can be made Stage Right or through the back of the house. Entrances can also be made Stage Left, however the path to stage left includes leaving the main theatre space and walking through our outdoor patio space. Note that this path is also the load-in and out path for the EXIT theatre.
The grid is about 14' above the stage. There is no fly space. The floor
is wooden. The back wall is brick. You may not hang items or compromise
the stage in any way without prior approval. The Dressing room holds 5-6
comfortably and can accommodate more. There is no private restroom or sinks
backstage. There is no storage available in the EXIT. There will be a non-moving
light plot, with some specials that should provide a decent number of looks
for all Fringe companies. There are 2 CD players, one booth mic, one XLR
and one 1/4" cable available onstage. There is a piano available, if
requested far in advance.
This space is particularly good for large casts, sketch groups, acoustic
music and physical movement pieces. This space is less good for multimedia,
as the only good location for a projector is on the stage.
