SEPTEMBER 8-19, 2010

The San Francisco Fringe Festival is an open, non-juried, uncensored festival where performers are selected through a lottery. The SF Fringe returns 100% of the box office earnings to the performing company.

Only ONE application can be submitted per individual/company.


APPLICATION INFORMATION

  • ALL Applications to the San Francisco Fringe Festival must be submitted online. Standard Venue Applications are due by midnight February 14, 2010. Non-Traditional Venue Applications are due by May 31, 2010.
  • ALL Standard Fringe Venue performers -- local, national, and international -- will be selected by lottery.
  • The Non Traditional Fringe Venue application is primarily for site specific work and must meet the NTFV guidelines.

All applicants to the SF Fringe Festival must pay a $35 Application Fee. This will be charged to your credit card when you apply. If you are selected in the lottery to perform in a Standard Venue at the 2010 San Francisco Fringe Festival there are sliding scale fees ranging from $425 to $700 depending on size of venue and length of show.

If your proposal for a NTFV slot is accepted there is a $350 Performance Fee. The Performance Fee will be charged to your credit card only if you are selected to perform in the festival.

Local companies in Standard Venues receive four performance slots and non-local companies receive six performance slots. Eighty percent of the performance slots available are for shows up to 60 minutes. Twenty percent of the performance slots are for shows up to 90 minutes. Venues range from 40 to 80 seats. Performance fees range from $425 to $700 depending upon size of venue and length of show.

IMPORTANT DATES for Standard Fringe Venue Applicants

  • December 8, 2009 until 12:00am(Midnight) February 14th 2010: Standard Venue Applications will be accepted
  • 7:00 PM, February 20th, 2010: Standard Venue Participants and the Wait List will be drawn at the Fringe Lottery Party - at EXIT Theatre (156 Eddy Street)
  • April 30th, 2010: Last day for Standard Venue participants to withdraw and receive 50% refund of Application fee.
  • September 8-19, 2010: 19th Annual SF Fringe Festival

The primary intent for Non-Traditional Fringe Venue applications is for site specific work. Over the years the SF Fringe has hosted shows presented on moving buses, in local parks, bars and cabarets, at the planetarian and the tulip garden in Golden Gate Park, and on a Market Street park bench. Proposals must be approved by the SF Fringe. The SF Fringe will not judge the artistic nature of a project but rather its viability as an NTFV.

IMPORTANT DATES for NTFV Applicants

  • May 31st, 2010 at 12:00am Pacific Time (Midnight): Last day NTFV Applications will be accepted
  • June 15th, 2010: Last day for NTFVs to withdraw and receive 50% refund of Application fee.
  • September 8-19, 2010: 19th Annual SF Fringe Festival

YOU PROVIDE:

  • A fully prepared, rights secured, audience ready production
  • All Fringe materials (i.e. contractual, technical, promotional, etc.) ON TIME when requested.
  • A set ticket price of no more than $10 (rounded to the nearest dollar).
  • All your travel/food/ production/royalties/union fees/misc. expenses.
  • Your own specific promotional and publicity materials including press releases, posters, postcards, on-site promotions, flyers, and anything else that will help draw attention to your show.
  • Any and all additional technical equipment not available at the venue (ie. projectors, microphones, fog machines, keyboards, etc.)

IN ADDITION IF YOU SECURE AN NTFV SLOT YOU PROVIDE:

  • An appropriate site for your production with a signed agreement.
  • ANY & ALL staffing and technical equipment.

WE PROVIDE:

  • Inclusion in the Fringe program guide, website and overall event publicity. A detailed program and publicity questionnaire will be sent to all companies after securing a slot
  • A Fringe Festival Publicist who will promote the overall festival.
  • And, most importantly, companies receive 100% of their box office earnings.

FOR STANDARD VENUES WE PROVIDE:

  • 4 performances for local performers, 6 for national & international performers, scheduled in rotation in the same venue.
  • Standard Venues are outfitted with a stationary lighting plot and basic sound equipment; a venue floor plan and spec sheet will be made available after your venue confirmation
  • The Fringe provides one technician for your production. The Technician usually operates the lighting board and may run sound depending on the number of cues. It is required that every company supply a stage manager and any additional operators needed by their production.
  • All front of house staff (i.e. Box office, usher & house manager)
