Welcome to the 18th Annual 2009 San FranciscoFringe Festival
SEPTEMBER 9-20, 2009

Since the age of computers all Fringe information has been posted on line and sent in e mails.
You have access to all things Fringe @ www.sffringe.org on the Performer Information Page
But just to be sure we are being as helpful as we can, this year we created our first ever San Francisco Fringe Festival "hand's on" manual. Hope it helps and any feedback is greatly appreciated.
All the best and Remember….. keep it simple,
Christina

What is Fringe Theatre….? In case anyone asks
It's new and experimental theatre that you won't see on the mainstream stages.

It's open to absolutely anybody to perform absolutely anything. Shows are chosen by lottery without censorship or judgement.

It's Dangerous Theatre, where anything can happen….Intense Drama, Comedy, Multimedia Performance, Clowns, Musical, Eclectic Absurdism and yes,
Undescribable Treasures!

It's a unique opportunity for both audience and artists. All tickets are $10 or less
and 100% of the box office sales go to the performing companies.

It's over 200 performances in downtown SF from September 9th to the 20th, 2009

VOLUNTEERING
AT THE SAN FRANCISCO FRINGE FESTIVAL

Each year close to 100 volunteers donate their time to keep the SF Fringe
running. It's the Fringe because of the many volunteers who make the festival possible.

Jobs include box office, ushering, answering phones, selling Frequent Fringer passes, T-shirts and Totes. Fringe volunteers are the audience's first point of contact and they love to talk about shows. Be sure to invite them to yours.

Please think about volunteering yourself or passing the word along to your friends, family and colleagues. All volunteers see shows for free on a space available basis and get a 2009 Fringe T-shirt.

HOUSING FOR OUT OF TOWN PERFORMERS

The 2009 SF Fringe has companies coming to town from Toronto, Slovenia, Brazil, Andorra, Missoula MT, Venice, CA, Los Angeles, Boston, Brooklyn, Aspen CO, Bakersfield, Charlottesville VA & New York.

It's a great opportunity to get to meet artists from outside your area,
share ideas, projects and maybe even your couch……..
If you have room to house a Fringe performer or know anyone who might be interested please let us know. A couch, a room, a futon, an empty floor. Fringe performers are hearty troupers and need a place to come home to. Let's show them some San Francisco hospitality!

TIP THE FRINGE

As the San Francisco Fringe Festival returns 100% of the ticket sales to the Performing Companies, we ask the audience after each performance to Tip The Fringe. This is one of the ways we help ensure the Fringe's future and the artists we support. The House Managers will make a short speech asking for their support.

Sold Out Awards & Best of the Fringe

Each year the San Francisco Fringe Festival celebrates the end of the Fringe with a variety of awards at our Closing Night Party (2009, Sunday September 20th,
10PM, location to be announced)

Sold Out Awards
If your show sells 49 tickets or more to a single performance you will get a Sold Out Award. If your house is less than 49 seats we will honor the full house number
as a sell out.

Best of the Fringe
Each year several shows are given a Best of Fringe award. These are determined by
staff, volunteers and audience.

4 Best of Fringe shows will be invited to donate 1 performance each
at the Best of the Fringe Fundraiser, Friday and Saturday, October 2nd & 3rd at
EXIT Theatre. Tickets are $20 for each show. All ticket sales benefit the
2010 San Francisco Fringe Festival.

The Daily Starr

The San Francisco Fringe Festival prints a daily newspaper during the 12 days of the Fringe. It is filled with pictures, articles, notices and interviews. If you would like to be a contributor to the Daily Starr please contact Richard Livingston, mail@sffringe.org

Happy Fringing ...
